Health Director appeals for no bandh

Imphal,June 04 2013:
In view of the ensuing MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination-2013 to be conducted by Directorate of Health Services Manipur on June 9, Director A Bijoy has appealed to all concerned not to call any bandh or blockade in between June 8 and June 10 .
Addressing media persons at his Lamphelpat office, Director Bijoy said that the department officials would require at least three days from June 8 to June 10 for planning and conducting the entrance examination, and so organizations should not call bandh or blockade during the three days in kind consideration of the students.
Out of the total 5756 candidates appearing in the entrance examination, 2453 candidates are male and 3303 candidates are female.
The examination would be conducted in 12 centres in Imphal area.
The Director further said that mobile phones and other electronic gadgets would be banned inside the examination hall, and any candidate found in possession of any electronic device would be expelled immediately from the examination.
The answer sheets of the candidates would be evaluated by a computerized system using Optical Mark Readers.
A Selection Board Committee headed by Principal Secretary as chairman along with the Director and another member has been formed to look after the selection procedure of government nominees for MBBS and BDS courses in various medical and dental colleges across the country, Bijoy disclosed.
