IW sweep 7 gold medals on Day 3 of State Level Boxing Championship

Imphal, November 25 2022:
Master boys and Sub-Junior boys of Imphal West swept as many as 7 gold and 2 silver medals on Day 3 of the ongoing State Level Boxing Championships at Boxing Arena, Khuman Lampak.
Winners of 15 categories were decided today.
In the Master Boys' 32 kg final bout Imphal West's Ningthoukhongjam Dhanaraj beat Pebam Joyhenba of Imphal East to open the gold medal account for the unit.
IW's Kishan (Master boys 34 kg) and Yengkhom Giveson (Master boys 38 kg) also defeated their respective rivals in the final bouts.
Jasobanta Yengkhom of IW cruised to the sub-junior boys 35 kg title by beating Ningombam Romesh of IE in the final bout before his compatriots Laishangbam Uningba Khuman beat Rinngasung Vashi of Ukhrul for the 40 kg title; Salam Diamond beat Khaidem Sanatomba of Kakching for the 52 kg category gold and Shel Asem Moirangcha downed Moirangthem Lanngamba of Imphal East for the 55 kg category gold.
Meanwhile, Bishnupur's Premkanta Oinam won the Master boys +44 kg category gold by beating Kakching's Naorem Maikel in the final as Amaraj Wahengba beat Wangthoi Chirom of IW for the sub-junior boys 43 kg category gold and Thoumujam Paikhomba beat Md Abdul Noor of IE for the sub-junior boys -49 kg category gold medal.
Ukhrul's V Wungchipei Zimik won the Master boys's -36 kg category by beating Imphal East's Usham Thouna Luwang as Gershom Awungshi beat M Lanchenba of Kakching for the master boys's -44 kg category title.
Kakching's Khaidem Rudraksh (Master boys -40 kg) and Thoithoiba Thangjam (Master boys -42 kg) also won gold medals as Ningthoujam Akaba of Imphal East beat Ukhrul's Chingrihor Shatshang for the sub-junior boys' -46 kg category gold.
18 semi-final matches were also decided today.
Imphal West's Moirangthem Sanathoi and Ningthoujam Khambaton of Kakching will face off against one another for the Elite men's 71 kg category title.
Sanathoi defeated Shamurailatpam Aijun of Bishnupur on the way to his final while Khambaton outlasted Chara Joybor Moyon of Chandel to complete the final line up.
