Imphal, November 25 2022:
A man from Taothong Apheiba, Imphal West has been found dead at RIMS under mysterious circumstances after he went away with another man of his locality to construct houses.
Taking strong exception to the suspicious death, a protest demonstration was staged today at Taothong Apheiba.
The deceased has been identified as one Leishangthem Robindro (35) s/o late Ibohal.
According to the family members of Robindro, he went away with one Thongam Jiban (45) s/o Thongam Ibohanbi of the same locality on November 13 to build a house at Thongju Boroi Makhong.
On November 15, the family members were informed that Robindro had sustained injuries and he had been taken to RIMS.
However, when some family members went to RIMS, Robindro was found dead.
As the corpse was taken home for the last rites, deep scars made by pointed/sharp objects were seen on Robindro's body.
This aroused suspicion and the family members immediately filed a complaint at Singjamei police station.
Subsequently, police took the corpse to RIMS for post mortem and Jiban was also pulled up for questioning.
The family members claimed police told them that a blood stained knife was recovered from a tent where Robindro and Jiban stayed together.
Some people who took part in today's protest demonstration said that they would carry on different forms of agitation until the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Robindro are established.
They also sought attention of Chief Minister N Biren and demanded justice for Robindro.
