Horti products a hit with folks

The products put on display by the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department stalls at the Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 are popular among the visitors.
The Department has stalls at the Moirang Khunou and Hapta Kangjeibung venues of the festival.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, flower plants and many value-added products produced by Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) and entrepreneurs in association with Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) are on display at the stalls.
And, people are lining up at the stalls to buy them like hot cakes.
Additional Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation and MOMA Project Director K Debadutta Sharma at the Hapta Kangjeibung venue said the stalls of the Department are displaying for sale the famous GI tagged Tamenglong orange, Sirarakhong chilli (Hathei) and Kachai lemon.
In addition to this, flowering pants, kiwi, avocado and other exotic fruits produced under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) are also on display.
Value added products of the local entrepreneurs are also popular among the people visiting the festival, they said.
Launched by Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Soil Conservation Minister, Manifresh brand's packaged fruit products are popular among the people.
So far.
the brand has sold over Rs 70,000."When the Farmer Producing Companies and entrepreneurs are up to the challenges, we still lack somewhat of packaging design and few other mandatory compliances.
We believe we will be able to save and preserve fruits and vegetable produce more efficiently," said an officer of the Horticulture Department.
It may be noted that the Manipur Tourism Department is organising the Manipur Sangai festival at 14 locations across the State.
The festival will end on November 30 .
