Day-II of Sangai Fest CCpur held amid razzmatazz

A blend of rock, folk and popular music, cultural shows and Meet the Artistes programme marked the second day of Manipur Sangai Festival at Geljang Resort, Khuga in Churachandpur district on Friday.
Besides grooving to some awesome tunes and celebrating the rich cultural heritage, visitors were offered the chance to explore handloom and handicraft products, food and beverage, art and craft of the district at one of its most exotic spots, Geljang Resort, surrounded by lush green hills, and lakeside scenic view.
The second day of the festival was attended by commerce & industries minister Nemcha Kipgen; Thanlon MLA and adviser to CM Vungzagin Valte; Churachandpur MLA LM Khaute; additional chief secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam; deputy commissioner (Churachandpur) Sharath Chandra Arroju; SP Shivanand Surve; other government officials and DLOs.
The dignitaries who spoke at the event were all in praise of the state government for expanding the Sangai Festival to other parts of the state.
Besides sharing the background of the Sangai Festival, they urged all concerned to celebrate the festival in the true spirit of the theme - Festival of Oneness.
Cultural troupes of various tribal communities settling in Churachandpur presented their respective colourful cultural dances in the morning session.
Rock concert christened 'Khuga Waves' was held in the evening and it featured several bands that performed various western and local rock numbers setting the festive vibes to the hilt across the scenic lakeside.
The bands that performed on Friday included Kaicho, The Rigvedaz, Jimmy Thang (Side B) from Delhi and Zonam Rabbi.
While popular artistes such as Joshua Buhril, Christina Shakum, Jajai Singsit enthralled the crowd with their hit songs, a solo guitar show by Vawnchawi Vaiphei left the crowd in awe.
A folk song presentation by Rosy Heisnam & Team and K-Pop dance by Duality received wide admirations from the crowd gathered.
Meet the Stars programme featuring Manipuri film actress Soma Laishram, who is also the brand Ambassador of Tourism Department, and other singers and actresses was another crowd puller.
The Sangai festival celebration in Churachandpur will wind up with another music performance from Mizorambased band Sound from the Hills, other local artistes and designer Robert Naorem's fashion show which will feature Miss Universe (2000) Lara Dutta on Saturday evening at Lamka public ground.
