Imphal, November 25 2022:
Despite the regulation issued by the state government regarding parking of vehicles in major highways in and around Imphal city, the Babupara road stretch is showing the irresponsible mentality of the people of the state before the tourists visiting for the Manipur Sangai Festival with unruly parking, which extended up to the middle of the road leaving little room for the moving vehicles to pass.
The road stretch has many important offices of the government including GPO, PHQ and civil secretariat among others.
A recent order of the government allowed single row parking for employees only with the instruction to use Ram Krishna Mission School and MST campuses to accommodate the vehicles as a special arrangement during Sangai Festival.
However, vehicles could be seen in double or triple row parking extending up to the middle of the road in front of these important government offices.
The authority is also doing nothing to enforce the regulation as most of the vehicles parked here are escort vehicles of senior officials of the government.
It not only shows the ugly side of the senior officials of the state but also raises the question if the government rules and regulations do not apply to them.
