India's bigger hope pinned on six of its boxers was dashed on Wednesday as all of them except Sweety Boora advanced to the finals of Light Heavy (81kg) at Asian women's Boxing Championship being held at Wulanchabu, China.
Manipuri boxer Sarjubala was thrashed by China's E Naiyan in the bout for silver.
Five Indian pugilists who bagged bronze by virtue of their performance were Sarjubala Shamjetsabam (48 kg), Meena Kumari (54 kg), Basumatary Pwilao (57 kg), Pooja Rani (75 kg) and Seema Poonia (81 kg).
It may be mentioned that Sarjubala guaranteed India a medal at the Asian Women's Boxing Championship by thrashing Turlubayeva Alina of Kazakhstan in the Quarter Finals.
On day two, Sarjubala had to beat Thai boxer who was also a medallist in World Championships like her and overcame a tough first 1st round opponent.
Reports said that Sarjubala and Thailand's Chuthamat Raksat delivered one of the best performances in the second competition day in Wulanchabu.
Both boxers were medallist in the last edition of the AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and among the bests in the world.
