BSF plants 4 lakh saplings in 30 min to mark golden jubilee

Imphal, August 12 2015:
As part of its Golden Jubilee Celebration, Border Security Force (BSF) has planted over 4 lakh saplings within 30 minutes on Wednesday.
The plantation was started from 10 am and ended at 10.30 am at all BSF establishments throughout the country which aimed at upgrading the earlier Limca Book of Records 2014 on planting 3,09,141 saplings, a release said.
As a part of this event 49 Bn BSF under SHQ BSF CI (Ops), Manipur under the supervision of Ashwini Kumar Singh, Commandant of the Battalion Planted simultaneously 2,339 saplings of different varieties of trees by 54 jawans of 49 Bn BSF and local people in the surrounding forest areas of Koirengei (near their Battalion), Itam and Maphou Kuki villages.
The plantation drive was done to increase greenery and aforestation in the State.
The release also said that 5,250 saplings were planted at SHQ BSF Manipur; SHQ BSF Silchar AOR; SHQ BSF Aizawl AOR and STC BSF Churachanpur AOR.
