Imphal, August 12 2015:
KCP (MC) has announced a public curfew with effect from 6 am to 6 pm on August 15 to denounce the Independence Day of India.
In a statement, KCP (MC) information and publicity secretary Paikhomba Meitei urged the people not to take part in any celebration held in connection with India's Independence Day.
Paikhomba said that before British colonists gave independence, they taught their loyal countries how to occupy neighbouring small kingdoms through military and geo-politi-cal threats.
Unfortunately, kingdoms like Assam, Tripura and Manipur fell into India's trap of neo-colonial imperial system, Paikhomba said.
These three States witnessed alteration in their geo-political map after they were forcefully annexed into Indian Union, Paikhomba alleged and added that the best examples of these changes were ceding of Kangleipak's (Manipur) Kabaw valley to Burma, separation of Awang Hao (Naga hills) and Kha Hao (Lushai hills) to carve out Nagaland and Mizoram and formation of Meghalaya by carving out Jaintia hills and Khasi hills from Cachar valley.
Showing the dream of Greater Nagaland and Greater Mizoram, India is playing the divide and rule policy among small communities of Sino-Indo-Burman region, he said and added that as a result, the joint revolutionary movement of the region is unable to reach its peak.
After Manipur became a satellite State of India, a large number of non-locals entered the State and not only occupied business and trade activities but also diluted culture and tradition, he said.
As such, people of Manipur must always oppose such policies of India, he observed.
