Imphal, August 12 2015:
Tribal Youth Council, Manipur (TYCM) has asked Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi to stop "talking and acting like a hypocrite" and show the real intentions of his Government in exploiting the tribals of the State.
TYCM said Ibobi should stop deceiving the central leaders and the tribals.
Reacting to the recent media reports on Ibobi placing several Acts for the protection of tribals with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of Home Affairs Rajnath Singh on August 8, TYCM in a press release termed the act as "nothing" but fooling the tribals in the State.
It may be mentioned that during the meeting in connection with the Naga Peace Accord, Ibobi has placed before the central leadership the existing Acts namely Manipur (Village Authority in Hill Areas) Act 1956; Manipur Land Revenues and Land Reforms Act 1960; Manipur ( Hill Areas) District Council Act 1971 and Manipur Legislative Committee (Hill Areas Committee) Order 1972 under Article 371C passed by the Parliament for administration of hill areas in Manipur, protection of customary laws, legislative protection to the interests of hill areas and prevention of tribal land alienation.
TYCM President said that the Manipur Land Revenues and Land Reforms Act, 1960 empower the government that "State Government can extend MLR & LR Act in any part of the State by publishing in the Manipur Gazette without going through normal legislation process" .
He lamented that all these Acts presented before the Central leadership by Ibobi are only for namesake without "any actual uses." "None of the above Acts are implemented in the State in true spirit of the Acts" and asked Ibobi to show the real concerns of his government.
"He should have reported the real problems and issues of tribals which he failed to do so," he added.
