Manipur emerge champions of 28th National Sub-Junior and Senior Thang-Ta C'ship

Manipur represented by Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association have emerged champions of the 28th National Sub-Junior and Senior Thang-Ta Championship hosted by Tamil Nadu Thang-Ta Association under the aegis of Thang-Ta Federation of India from February 1 at CSI Hall, Kanyakumari.
Manipur picked up a staggering total of 38 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals to amass 320.3 points to seal the team title as Jammu and Kashmir Thang-Ta Association (17 gold, 19 silver and 9 bronze medals; 171.4 points) and Thang-Ta Association of Haryana (7 gold, 12 silver , 11 bronze medals: 83.9 pts) settled for the runners up and second runners up titles.

Owais Ahmed of Jammu and Kashmir emerged best fighters among the boys while Th Lembisana was adjudged best fighter among girls.
Winning gold medals for Manipur in Thang-Haiba, Thanglon and Khonglon Khutlon -Bhopen Raj Athokpam (sub-junior boys-Thang Haiba); N Linghelthoibi Chanu (sub-junior girls- Thang Haiba); H Shyllivia (senior women- Thang Haiba), H Krishnananda (sub-jr boys-Thanglon); Nevidita Phairembam (sub-jr girls- Thanglon); L Lenil (senior men-Thanglon) and Sh Sanatombi (senior women-Thanglon); H Priyobarta (sub-jr boys Khonglon-Khutlon); H Yaiphabi (sub-jr boys Girls- Khonglon-Khutlon) and Y Khagemba (Senior men -Khonglon Khutlon) .
Sub-junior boys who won gold medals for Manipur in the Phunaba Ama event in the said championship are Randy Wangkheimayum (-25 kg), Ningombam Birnath (-29 kg), Chanamthabam Poireiton (-33 kg), Chingangbam Ginish (-37 kg), Nongthambam Urejis (-45 kg), Karis Chabungbam (-49 kg), Konjengbam Yaiphaba (-53 kg) and Haobijam Ridesh (+53 kg).
Johnson Huirem (-41 kg) won bronze for Manipur in the same category.
State Sub-junior boys winning gold medal in the Phunaba Anishuba event are - Ningthoujam Manglemba (-29 kg), Rionel Hijam (-33 kg), Heirangkhongjam Ronaljit (-41 kg), Chingkheinganba Luwang (-53 kg) Thingujam Mangal (+53 kg) as Premjit Lairikyengbam (-25 kg) won a silver and Laipubam Alex (-45 kg) bagged a bronze.
Meanwhile, sub-junior girls who earned gold medals for Manipur in Phunaba Ama event are Moirangthem Chanjabi (-25 kg), Lairikyengbam Kalpana (-29 kg), Naorem Korounganbi (-33 kg), Milky Athokpam (-41 kg), Gaitri Laishram (-45 kg) .
Laishram Sanathoi (-49 kg) and Thangjam Ethoibi (-53 kg) settled for silver medals as Lourembam Daina (-37 kg) and Longjam Valentina (+53 kg) finished with bronze medals.
In the meantime, Hijam Iswarya (-25 kg), Laishram Jina (-29 kg), Kakchingtabam Sunity (-33 kg), Ningombam Pushpa (-37 kg), Keisham Lucky (-41 kg), Thangjam Lembisana (-49 kg), Lourembam Alichia (-53 kg) and Soibam Ronika (+53 kg) all won gold medal for Manipur in the sub-junior girls Phunaba Anishuba event.
The senior men players who fetched gold medals for Manipur in the Phunaba Ama event are Manoharmayum Trinabaarta (-46 kg), Naorem Bishorjit (-54 kg), Sanasam Saman (-58 kg), Moirangthem Arbin (-62 kg) and Kangjam Chetanjeet (-66 kg).
Laishram Nilachandra (-50 kg), Anand Ningthoujam (-70 kg) and Khundongbam Michael (-80 kg) of the same age category won silver as Thounaojam Malemnganba (-75 kg) won a bronze medal.
Shougrakpam Roseland (-58 kg) and Thangjam Mocha (-80 kg) were on the other hand won gold medal in the senior men's Phunaba Anishuba event as Yumnam Jetly (-54 kg), Pari Thokchom (-62 kg) and Ksh Lan (-75 kg) settled for silver medals.
Nongthombam Jibanlata (-48 kg), Khundongbam Priyangka (-56 kg), Laishram Shelly (-68 kg) and Nongmaithem Tombi (-72 kg), meanwhile, won gold medals senior women's Phunaba ama event as Khangjrakpam Sandhyapati (64 kg) won a bronze medal in the Phunaba Anishuba event.
