Singhat school to be Cl-X exam centre

For the first time in the history of Churachandpur, an examination centre for the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, conducted by the Board of Secondary Examination Manipur (BoSEM), has been allotted in a remote area of the district.
Singhat, a model town situated along the Imphal-Tiddim road, about 21 kilometres from Churachandpur town, has finally got an examination centre for the Class-X Board examination.
The allotted exam centre is Singhat Higher Secondary School, where a total of 123 studepts from various high schools in Singhat area will be appearing in the said examination.
As per a notification issued by the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Churachandpur on February 2, the Singhat Higher Secondary School was selected as one of the examination centres for Churachandpur and Pherzawl districts.
It may be mentioned that a committee christened "Singngat Education Committee (SEC)" was formed on January 20 under the initiative of local MLA Chinlunthang along with school principals/headmasters and village authorities.
The committee aims to establish co-educational centre at the earliest which, it hopes, will also help ease financial stress of many parents who toil hard to meet educational expenses of their Wards studying in the town area.
"It is indeed my long-held ambition to make Singngat an educational hub to make life easier for aspiring young students of the area who couldn't afford to go to advanced educational institutions in the town area," said MLA Chinlunthang.
The setting up of this committee will help in improving the infrastructure and education quality in small a town like Singngat, he added.
