Imphal, September 12 2013:
A three-day national seminar on the topic, 'Indigenous Bamboo and Cane Culture in Manipur' has kick started at Manipur University's Department of Anthropology from today.
Speaking at the opening session of the workshop as chief guest, MU Vice-Chancellor Prof H Nandakumar Sharma said that bamboo plays significant role in day today life in Manipur.
It is used not only in ritual ceremonies but also in several other activities, he added.
Bamboo shoots are favourite dishes of Manipuris, he added.
Anthropology Department HOD Prof W Nabakumar presided over the opening session.
