RIMS sings of its own achievements ahead of 42nd birthday

Since its inception in 1972, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) at Lamphel has so far produced 1057 Post Graduates (PGs), 2538 Bachelor of Medicines and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBSs) and three MChs.
This was disclosed by Director of RIMS Prof S Sekharjit today while addressing media persons in connection with the 42nd Foundation Day of medical institute which would be celebrated on September 14 .
Prof Sekharjit stated that in celebration of 42 years of its service to the people of the State and outside, RIMS is going to celebrate its 42nd Foundation Day on September 14 at its Jubilee Hall.
The occasion would be graced by Dr Mukul Sangma, Chief Minister of Meghalaya who passed out from RIMS and had been a doctor for many years, and Lok Sabha MP from Manipur Dr Th Meinya as Chief Guest and President respectively.
During its 42 years of service, RIMS has not only provided medical facilities to the people of the State but to others coming from all over the country and beyond.
Till today, RIMS has produced 1057 Post Graduates (PGs), 2538 Bachelor of Medicines and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBSs) and three MChs, he informed.
He further stated that in order to maintain record on the attendance of the staffs of RIMS including its doctors, Biometric system has been installed.
A number of CCTVs have also been installed within the premises of the institute to monitor and prevent any sort of disturbance in the smooth functioning of the medical institute.
Moreover, the institute has been equipped with new medical instruments and machines including ERCP, YAC and Aphaeresis machines so as to provide the best medical facilities to its patients.
Two Ambulances of the latest design have also been been purchased, he added.
