Imphal, February 18 2022:
Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmar border belt has been suspended for 45 days in view of the rising number of Covid-19 variant Omicron cases in Myanmar.
In an order issued on February 5, deputy secretary (Home) Dr Th Charanjeet Singh stated that the department in its January 1 order had suspended the Indo-Myanmar FMR for one month.
Presently, there is high chance of spread of Omicron infection in the state if the cross-border movement is not stopped in view of steep rise in Omicron cases in Myanmar.
Thus, the government has decided to extend the suspension of the Indo-Myanmar FMR for 45 days more, the order said.
