Imphal, December 21, 2013:
The Kuki Students' Organisation (General Headquarters) has urged all concerned to refrain from imposing any kind of bandh that could be detrimental to peace with the arrival of Christmas and New Year festivals while urging the Kuki UG groups to cease hostilities and clash in Sadar Hills and Jiribam area so that the public could celebrate Christmas and New Year in its true spirit.
The scars of communal retribution that was displayed during previous Christmas and New Year season are still etched in the minds of tribal Christians, a statement issued by the President of KSO Ghqs, Peter H Mate said while adding that the result is very much evident in the low turn out in shopping and visits in Imphal this year.
Urging the people of the State, NGOs and student bodies not to repeat past mistakes, the statement called upon all concerned to look towards a merrier and more hopeful New Year.
It further called upon all concerned to usher in the peace and love promised through the birth of Christ.
