Deputy CM advises police to maintain rapport with public

Imphal, December 21, 2013:
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of the Home Department, has advised the police personnel to be people-friendly and maintain rapport with the public.
He was talking to the personnel of Manipur Police while inspecting the office of Imphal East SP and Porompat Police Station here today.
Gaikhangam further said that good conducts deserve rewards, while mischievous conducts are liable to punishment.
The police are the protectors of people's life and property and they should perform their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication.
The Deputy Chief Minister advised the personnel to reduce taking leave and get involved more in the public service.
He further assured that all requirements of the police Stations such as telephone facilities, vehicles and fuel would be provided to enhance the service of police in the State.
Moreover, new police stations at Yairipok, Pallel, Andro and Noney would be inaugurated shortly, Gaikhangam noted.
The Deputy Chief Minister also strictly warned that the Government would take up stringent action against the police personnel if they were found involved in criminal acts.
He instructed the police personnel to be proactive in dealing with anti-social elements and enforcing proper law and order in the State.
Gaikhangam was accompanied by DGP Shahid Ahmed, Principal Secretary (Home) Dr Suresh Babu and other officials of Police Department during the inspection.
The team thoroughly inspected the condition of barracks and kitchens of the police personnel.
Later, the team also inspected the site for construction of the proposed Tribal Girls' Hostel at MBC campus in Chingmeirong.
