Tamenglong, Jiribam border dispute to be resolved

Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland)/ZYF (AMN) and Govt.of Manipur have reportedly come to an understanding to the effect of conducting an on the spot enquiry/verification of the district boundary between Tamenglong district and Jiribam Sub-division of Imphal East district.
According to a statement issued by Joint Secretary of ZYF (AMN) David Kamei, as per the understanding, the spot inquiry would be conducted on January 5, 2014 by a joint team which would include some MLAs and officials of Revenue Department both from Tamenglong and Jiribam.
In this regard, the Govt.of Manipur has also instructed/directed the Commissioner, Revenue Department, Govt.of Manipur to issue Orders on 21st December, 2014.The development has come about following strong demand raised by ZYF strong demand for erection of border pillars at Phaitol, Kamranga and Khedagor and for proper demarcation of district boundary between Tamenglong district and Jiribam following illegal encroachment on the land of Tamenglong district, David said.
After submission of the enquiry/verification report to the Govt.of Manipur by the said enquiry team, the ZYF and Govt.of Manipur will have another joint meeting to finalize the issue.
In the next joint meeting to be held after submission of the report, issues related to other points already submitted to the Govt.of Manipur by the ZYF would also be discussed, David disclosed, while acknowledging the seriousness of the Govt.of Manipur on this land encroachment issue and therefore, assured full cooperation of ZYF to the enquiry/verification team for the sake of resolving the issue for once and for all.
