Imphal, December 21, 2013:
A newly constructed office building of Manipur Tribal Development Corporation (MTDC) at Lamphelpat here was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Friday.
In his address, Gaikhangam highlighted the necessity of taking up the onus by each and everyone in shaping a good society in Manipur, and called for a socially and economically thriving state.
Gaikhangam informed that almost 20 corporations in the state have been closed down by the Government, leaving only three-four corporations to survive and one of them is the MTDC whose activities have been recognised by the Government.
"Therefore, I request this corporation to keep up with quality maintenance," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
He said that if MTDC performs well, it would catch the attention of a lot not only within the State but also from outside agencies, and then there would be no financial constraint.
Gaikhangam also appealed to the corporation to work hard for self-reliance, assuring that he would hold consultations in a convenient time with the Chief Minister who also holds the Finance portfolio for implementation of 6th Pay for the MTDC staff.
The function was also attended by Chairman of Hill Area Committee Dr Chaltonlien Amo, MTDC chairman and MLA T Manga Vaiphei and MLA D Korungthang.
