District youth convention held

Under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt.of India, Nehru Yuva Kendra Imphal West organized a District Youth Convention and Yuva Kriti at the Kuranganayani Hall of DC Office, Lamphelpat today.
K.Radhakumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Imphal West; Sahib Singh, Zonal Director of NYKS Imphal Zone and L.Ibetombi Devi, Deputy Manager of National Small Industries Cooperation Ltd.
Imphal attended the inaugural function of the convention as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Inaugurating the the Yuva Kriti in which 24 stalls of handloom, handicraft, Potloi Making, Make-up and food Items were exhibited, Radhakumar thanked the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Imphal West for organizing the programme for the benefit of the Youths with little amount of money.
The DC advised the NYK to include documentation of Youth Club Activities and maintenance of Accounts in the Youth Leadership and Community Development Training Programme in future.
He also gave away awards to Nupi Angang Sindam Lup of Kodompokpi for Outstanding Youth Club Award for 2013-14. In her address, L.Ibetombi Devi, Deputy Manager of NSIC Ltd.
appreciated the youths for participating in the Yuva Kriti and noted that today's youths are tomorrow's entrepreneurs.
She also highlighted various schemes taken up by the Govt.of India for the welfare of youth.
N.Ibongochoubi Singh, who attended the Youth Convention as resource person, observed that the youths should be empowered to raise question on any shortcomings happening in the society.
He also proposed for Skill Development training of the youths based on locally available row materials in Manipur.
Among the participating stalls in the Yuva Kriti, Kombirei Jewellery of Sagolband Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, United Scientific Rural Development Association of Mayang Imphal and Social Development Organisation of Haoreibi won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Sahib Singh, Zonal Director, gave away prizes and certificates to the position holders of Yuva Kriti and the participants of the 3-days training of Youth Leadership and Community Development held at the Kuranganayani Hall, DC Office Imphal West from the 19th to 21st December, 2013. After a thorough discussion, the Convention recommended the NYKS to look into the welfare and development of the Youth Clubs.
The work Camp, Sports, Adventure, Skill up gradation training for the male unemployed youths and Awards to the youth leaders should be included in the regular programme of NYK for the benefit of the Youth Clubs in the District.
