Over 800 villagers of Laphupat Tera and nearby villages in the Manipur river corridor of Bishnupur and Thoubal districts were provided with free of cost treatment and medicines during a medical camp jointly organised by 33 Assam Rifles, K-Pro infra and Loktak development Authority (LDA) today, said a PIB (DW) release.
Addressing the gathering after jointly inaugurating the camp along with LDA Project Director T Ibobi Singh and Project Director of PCL (Hyderabad) Chiranjivi, 33 AR Commandant Col Naresh Bharadwaj noted that lack of medical infrastructure in the area is a problem which the Ar unit is committed to address on a regular basis.
The initiative taken by the red Shield Division was supported by the LDA and K-Pro Infra, the company engaged in the clearance of floating biomass (phumdis) from the Loktak Lake, the release informed while adding that four medical officers including a lady doctor from 33 AR, supported by civilian volunteer doctors attended to the needs of the villages.
Medicines worth Rs 40,000 were distributed among the poor who are not able to afford medicines.
