Imphal, August 24 2010: Atleast 14 activists of different underground groups have been rounded up by State and Central security forces from various places since August 21 .

Among the arrested persons, which included two women, six are informed to belong to the proscribed PREPAK organisation, including one Moirangthem Ibomcha alias Chingkhei Singh (39) s/o M Nongyai of Pukhao Naharup, who according to Imphal East district police SP Th Radheshyam is a member of Pukhao Gram Panchayat (Ward No.2) .

A statement of issued by the SP today accused Ibomcha of involvement in the abduction of headmaster of Khurai Popular High School namely Ratan and driver of Northern Transport, Nagamapal.

The accused, who was picked up from Pukhao Naharup at around 9.30 am of August 23, by a combined team of Imphal East police commandos and troops of 23 AR, is said to have joined PREPAK in June 2009 .

other PREPAK activists arrested by security forces comprising of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 28 AR, 39 AR and 16 Maratha Light Infantry have been identified as Thiyam Biramangol alias Tachou (58) s/o (L) Th Chandramani of Patsoi Pt-III from Checkon Crossing on August 21; Chingsubam Lalit alias Nanao Singh (23) s/o (L) ch Rona Singh of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai and Chingsubam Johny alias Amuba (18) s/o (L) Ch Romi of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai from Singjamei Wangma Bamon Leikai on August 21 at around 5 pm; and Chabungbam Kiran alias Keirungba (45) s/o Ch Amubi singh of Keirao Lairembi Leikai and Nepram Sanjoy alias Eshu (22) s/o N Shyam of Thongju Pheija Leitong, from their respective homes.

The arrest also included two KYKL (MDF) cadres identified as Khagembam Amitra alias Netra alias Amarjit (37) s/o Kh Indrajit of Moirang Khunou and Elangbam Ngouba Meitei (33) s/o E Gulapi of Tentha Makha Leikai from Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai.

On the otherhand, a police source informed that another KYKL (MDF) activist was apprehended by a combined team of Bishnupur police commandos and troops of 4/8 Gorkha Rifles from Nambol Sabal Leikai, where a search operation was conducted yesterday afternoon.

The arrested person has been identified as one Keisham Chaoba alias Robin alias Punshiba (30) s/o (L) K Ibobi of Nambol Sabal Leikai.

Earlier in the day, the same combined security team reportedly apprehended a PREPAK activist identified as Gurumayum Rajesh alias Ibomcha alias Iroi (34) s/o G Devan Sharma of Nambol Moijing Leikai.

Both Chaoba and Rajesh have been handed over to Nambol police station.

Meanwhile, a PIB (DW) release has informed that one overground worker of the KCP (MC) outfit was arrested by troops of 16 Maratha Light Infantry and 46 Assam Rifles under Red Shield Division from Yoithakul of Churachandpur district on August 22.The arrested person is Konsam Roshan alias Naoton (19) s/o (L) Udhop, added the PIB (DW) release.

Meanwhile, SSP (IW) L Kailun has informed that district police commandos and troops of 39 AR pulled up three KCP activists, including two women from Thangmeiband areas today.

In the first instance, one Nongmaithem Soley (36) s/o (L) N Naba of Lairenkabi Awang Leikai, presently a resident of Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai was netted from near Lilasing-khongnangkhong Crossing at about 7.45 am today along with one 9 mm pistol with magazine and two rounds.

On Soley's disclosure that a huge amount he had collected from the general public has been handed over to one Romita Devi, Nongmaithem (O) Romita Devi (34) w/o N Inaobi alias Romesh alias Pal (34) of Lairenkabi Awang leikai and Nongmaithem (O) Menao alias Nanaobi (30) w/o N Soley have been apprehended from a rented house located at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak, added the SSP.
