Imphal, August 24 2010:
Traffic along Imphal-Jiribam stretch of National Highway 53 has remained disrupted following a massive land-slide near K Sinam village.
K Sinam village is located of 38 kms from Imphal.
A large portion of the rocky cliff was had given way from a height of around 100 feet and blocked the road at around 6 am today.
Following the landslide, vehicles including passenger buses and goods carriers have been stranded on either side.
When this reporter reached the spot late afternoon today, BRTF workers were seen working hard to remove the debrises with the help of an excavator.

Though most of the stranded passengers on either side have somehow managed to cross the blocked area and proceeded to their respective destination, empty trucks that had left Imphal for Jiribam are being stationed at Khumbong and near the CRPF post at Kotlien.
SDPO Nungba, who was present at the site inspecting the road clearance work, informed that the road is to be cleared before the arrival of the Imphal-bound goods laden trucks which are coming from Jiribam with security escort.
Report received in the late evening said that traffic has been reopened to atleast smaller four wheelers and mini trucks.

Sources in Works Department said that necessary machineries would also be despatched from here tomorrow to help the BRTF workers in clearing the road.
