Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, August 12 2021:
All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) has hailed 5 Assam MLAs who demanded a State holiday on August 13 in Assam.
A press release issued by AMESCO, however, said that the organisation and the people of Manipur will not accept any misinterpretation of Anglo-Manipur War 1891 .
Saying that the Anglo-Manipur was fought to safeguard the sovereignty of Manipur and nothing else, it added that misrepresenting the war as a part of the movement to free India from British is akin to challenging 'our history' .
It then appealed to all to keep the history intact.
