MLA Joykisan rewards Rs 1 lakh to Olympian Sushila

Thangmeiband AC MLA Khumukcham Joykisan on Thursday presented a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh to hockey player Pukhrambam Sushila, who recently competed in the Tokyo Olympics, as a form of encouragement.
The award was handed over to Sushila during a felicitation function organised by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Imphal Iconics at Dharmashala, Thangal Bazar on Thursday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Joykisan recounted the performance of Sushila at the Tokyo Olympics as well as her stint as the captain of the Indian Women's Hockey team at Rio Olympics, 2016 .
Apart from being a young player, Sushila has the potential to win more accolades in the near future, he said.
Expressing his joy over the fact that Sushila hails from Thangmeiband AC, the MLA wished for the government to felicitate all Olympic participants of the state regardless of whether they have won a medal or not, including those who have participated in the Asian games and others.
The government could also provide free education and free medical treatment for families of such spoftspersons, he mooted.
The function was attended by JCI president JC Tanisha Jain, secretary JC Nidhi Jain and other members of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Imphal Iconics.
