Imphal, August 12 2021:
On the eve of its 17th foundation day, the Military Affairs Committee (MAC) of Kangleipak Communist Party's Miyamgi Fingang Lanmi (KCP/MFL) has extended wishes to the people as well as the revolutionary groups of Kangleipak and WESEA region.
The outfit, in a statement also extended gratitude to doctors, nurses, health workers, volunteers, CSOs, intellectuals, journalists who are working to save lives amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The MAC, on the other hand, said that this year foundation day celebration will be observed in name only due to the pandemic.
The proscribed outfit stated that COVID-19, which has claimed several lives, is still on the rampage in Manipur and elsewhere, with no sign of decline in the daily fatality and positivity rate.
Continuing that the highly contagious disease has also revealed the social inequality among the people clearly, the statement asserted that this disparity among the wealthy and poor families is also one big factor for the Covid spread.
Claiming that public-private conspiracy hatched to make people believe better healthcare service is available at private hospitals is only to make the corporate wealthier, the MAC said and added that those who cannot afford the treatment cost at private hospitals have no other options than to accept what fate brings.
Had the Government taken public health seriously, dispensaries and Government healthcare facilities would be functioning in full strength today and the State could have handled the Covid pandemic better, the MAC claimed and added that all these is a validation of the Government colluding with the capitalists to make the rich richer.
Saying that arresting the spread of coronavirus will not be possible if the Government remains a hypocrite, it alleged that the situation in Manipur is akin to having no Government at all.
The topmost priority of any Government should be saving lives, it said and maintained that protecting people is similar to guarding the sovereignty of the State.
The proscribed group further claimed that the Government not delivering the promises given on COVID-19 management is akin to a crime against the people.
It also claimed that the duty of the Government is not promoting themselves and detaining those who point out the lapses.
It was only 128 people who died in the Anglo Manipur War in 1891 that too in the absence of a democratic set but Covid deaths have crossed the 1,600 mark, the outfit said and alleged that saving lives is beyond the capabilities of the State Government now.
Are they even fit to call themselves representatives of the people when they can't save lives, the MAC asked and asserted that the incumbent Government is deep rooted in the idea of colonialism that only abuse lives.
Such a form of governance/Government should be discarded.
