NPP opens Delhi office, fetes ticket aspirants

Apart from opening its office in New Delhi on Thursday, the National People's Party (NPP) felicitated four politicians who are likely to contest as party candidates in the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly elections due to be held in early part of 2022.NPP national president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma opened the party's New Delhi office at 75 North Avenue in the presence of top leaders and functionaries of the party.
Deputy chief minister N Joykumar, NPP Manipur unit president and MLA L Jayantakumar and YAS minister Let-pao Haokip were also present at the event.
The attendees also included Laitonjam Jayanta, Md Noorul Hassan, H Vikramjit and Oinam Romen, who are likely to be party's candidates in the ensuing state assembly elections from Khurai AC, Kshetrigao AC, Yaiskul AC and Singjamei AC respectively.
All four of them were also felicitated at the event.
Addressing gathering, Conrad Sangma said that NPP is the only party from the North East to be recognised as national party by the Election Commission of India.
The party is now able to open its own office in New Delhi because of its activities.
The party brings people of the North East to the national level apart from highlighting issues of the region to the national level, he said, adding that August 12 will ever remain in the history of the party as government officially allotted party's office in the national capital.
This is possible due to the tireless effort and dedication of late founder of the party PA Sangma, he added.
In his reply to a query raised by media persons, Conrad Sangma said that almost all the North East states are having boundary disputes with neighbouring states for a long time and bringing solution to these disputes need a strong political will.
Solution to these disputes could be brought when leaders of political parties sit together and discussed the matter.
Nevertheless, it is necessary for one state to honour another state, he hastened to add.
In his address at the event, N Joykumar said that the day of opening of NPP office in the national capital is an unforgettable one and it will ever remain in the history of the party.
It is fortunate for the people of the North East that a political party having roots in the region has been recognised at the national level and opens its office in the national capital.
He said that more people are joining NPP as.they believe in the party's ideologies.
