Imphal, August 12 2021:
Regional Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) on Thursday felicitated hockey player Pukhrambam Sushila Chanu, who recently competed at the Tokyo Olympics.
As part of the occasion, Treadmill Test (TMT) and Hoster System of the Cardiology Department of the Institute was also inaugurated.
Speaking at the event, RIMS director Prof A Santa termed as a proud moment for the state to witness Sushila represent Manipur as part of the Indian Olympic contingent, while adding that she will be a source of inspiration for the young, especially girls.
On the other hand, the doctors of the Institute are working day and night to take care of Covid patients.
However, they are often assumed in bad light when they don the PPE suits.
As such, Prof Santa appealed to the people not to take the doctors wrongly.
Prof Santa said that heart blockages and abnormalities are of serious issues.
People often do not know when they will encounter a heart attack.
As such, the department inaugurated the TMT and Hoster System, which is far better than ordinary EGC, by helping to resuscitate patients who have suffered an attack.
The director then said that it is the objective of RIMS to provide best care to patients with quality machines on minimum charge bases.
Following the opening of DM Nephrology two years ago, a DM Cardiology will soon be opened at RIMS, he added.
Meanwhile, P Sushila said that although she failed to get a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, the people of Manipur have been endlessly encouraging her.
As such, she vowed to win a medal in the next edition of the Olympics in Paris.
The function was also attended by RIMS MS Prof H Priyosakhi.
