Ganga Prasad sworn in as Governor in-charge

Ganga Prasad has been sworn in as the governor of Manipur at a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan here on Thursday.
High Court of Manipur Chief Justice PV Sanjay Kumar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ganga Prasad, who will dispense charge as the state's governor in addition to his own duties in the same position of Sikkim during the absence on leave of Dr Najma Heptulla.
The ceremony was attended by chief minister N Biren, deputy speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K Robindro, council of ministers, chief secretary, director general of police and other senior officials of the state and senior citizens.
After the swearing-in-ceremony the new governor also inspected the guard of honour.
Later in the day, Ganga Prasad visited the Indian National Army (INA) Museum at Moirang and paid homage to the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the INA Museum Complex by offering floral tribute.
Later, he inspected the exhibition gallery of the museum where pictures, artefacts and items relating to the freedom fighter and the movement of INA are being preserved.
Speaking to media persons, the new Governor informed that he always had a yearning to be physically present at the INA and pay obeisance to the supreme sacrifices made by Netaji Subhas.
Stating that the valour of Netaji Subhas ignited the minds of the youth during the Indian freedom movement, Ganga Prasad also revered the great freedom fighter for his vision at that time, and added that recalling the life of Netaji through this museum will surely inspire the younger generation.
