ICAR promotes use of Nano urea fertilizer

The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Imphal West and AICRP on STCR, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science conducted awareness cum sensitization programme on the use of Nano urea-fertilizer - prospects and challenges on Thursday.
A release informed that the programme was attended by joint director ICAR- Manipur Centre Dr I Meghachandra Singh, ICAR governing body, New Delhi member Kh Naba-kumar Singh and former programme coordinator KVK-Imphal West Kh Hera Singh as president, chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Scientist (Soil Science) and project in-charge (AICRP-STCR) ICAR Manipur Dr T Basanta Singh, regional manager IFFCO Ajit Bhat tacharia, deputy manager IFFCO (Agriculture Service) Anuj Kotoky and buffer handler IFFCO, e-Bazar, Manipur Vivek Huidrom were the special guests of the event.
A total of 52 participants including experts, FCOs, farmers and other stakeholders took part in the programme.
In his address, Ajit Bhat tacharia highlighted the advantages of Nano urea saying that one bottle of Nano Urea (500 ml) is equivalent to one bag (45 kg) of urea.
During the expert-farmer interaction, the farmers and other stakeholders were informed that Nano urea use should be encouraged as it is safe for the user, safe for flora & fauna and for the environment.
Dr Meghachandra said that the Nano urea should be applied in the appropriate dose (2-4 ml/litre of water) and one should never try to use more than the recommended dose.
Dr Basanta Singh also said one should not miss the basal dose with the conventional fertilizers as the Nano urea is applicable for only for top dressing.
