Imphal, October 31 2013:
Condemning the firing incident by unknown persons at the Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai residence of Konsam Norendro alias Tomba, his locality's Naharol Leisemba Club and meira paibis have staged a sit-in-protest at the locality here today.
Speaking at the sideline of the protest, President of the Club, Leishangthem Pratap Meitei observed that such gun firing incidents have happened many times earlier and protest rallies have been staged against it by the locality's club and meira paibis.
He condemned the firing of 7 rounds of bullet at the house of Norendro (45) s/o (L) Konsam Ibomcha Singh at 11.30 am yesterday.
He is a transporter of betel leaves from Dimapur to Imphal by profession, and many UG outfits serve monetary demand to him.
However, such act should not be carried out when only women, children and elderly family members were in the house, and if anyone was injured in the incident then it would become a State issue, Meitei maintained and asked to inform the club or meira paibi if the person is guilty, so that every possible step could be taken against him.
Urging not to repeat such secret act and stop giving terror to the public, he appealed those involved to clarify publicly the reason of the firing.
