Literary Forum on "The life and Works of Dr Kamal"

Imphal, October 31 2013:
A literary forum on "The Life and Works of Dr.Kamal" was held on 28th October, 2013 at the auditorium of the Union Christian College, Barapani, Meghalaya.
The forum was organised by the Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata in collaboration with Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya.
Prof..HBehari Singh, Convener, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the function while Rajamani Nongthomba, President of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya, presided over the function.
Lamabam Brojendra, son of late Dr Lamabam Kamal, was also present on the occasion as a special invitee.
The forum had a symposium on the life and works of Dr Kamal and a session on reading of poems of Dr Kamal.
The symposium was chaired by Prof..NKhagendra Singh, Ex-convener, Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi while Dr.Ph.
Biramani, Editor 'Echemma' journal; Prof Jodhachandra Sanasam, Sahitya Akademi Awardee; Dr.Rajen Toijamba, Associate Professor, Department of Manipuri, Manipur University; and Th.Bishwanath Singh, President, Writers Skill, Lakhipur (Assam) read out papers.
The poem reading session was chaired by by L.Birendrakumar Sharma, retd.Judge and member of Manipuri Language Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
Writers from all over the northeast read out poems of Dr Kamal in different languages during the session.
Th.Babatombi Singh, K.Nilakanta and Pronita Hazarika read out poems of Dr Kamal in Assamese translation.
Minimon Laloo and Streamlet Dkhar read out Khasi translations of the poems of Dr Kamal.
Khoisnam Mangol read a Bengali translation while A.C.Netrajit, Kshetri Rajen, Dr.Makonmani Mongsaba, Y.K.B.Singh, M.Satyabati Devi, Shantikumari Nongthombi, Ch.
Subadani Devi, M.Bhagat and T.Jateswar Singh read out the Manipuri original poems of Dr Kamal.
