Manipur issues likely to be highlighted on Cong manifesto

Confiding that the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee is working on three Manipur-specific points for inclusion in the party's manifesto for the upcoming Parliamentary elections, MPCC President Gaikhangam said that the points include road connectivity, setting up of a State sports academy and well defined geographical boundary.
Stating that the Central leaders would be apprised soon for favourable consideration of the three points, the Deputy Chief Minister told newspersons at Congress Bhavan today that the party is committed to ensuring good road connectivity in the hill districts, establishment of State's own sports academy to enhance the sports movement in Manipur and protection of the State's boundary which include early settlement to the raging issue of boundary fencing dispute on the Manipur sector of the indo-Myanmar boundary.
Affirming that MPCC would not be satisfied with the inclusion of the three points but would further pursue for effective implementation of these points, Gaikhangam also confided that consequent upon the all political party delegation's recent visit to Moreh for assessing the boundary fencing, drafting of an MoU for submission to the Central Government is underway.
After its finalisation, the issues would be discussed with the Chief Minister, he further affirmed that the State Government would intimate the international community for maintaining status quo on Manipur's boundary.
