A 20-day theatre workshop cum production for woman artistes entitled "Women in Turmoil" concluded today at the Kalimai Mandap, Yaiskul, Imphal.
The workshop was jointly organized by the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur and North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur.
The closing function was attended by Dr I (Ongbi) Ibetombi, Chairperson of Women Commission, Manipur, Dr Lokendra Arambam, National Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee and Dr Kh Sarojini, Director of Art and Culture as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Dr Ibetombi said that Manipur has two important assets, which are its art & culture and the skills of its sportpersons.
Both these assets showcase the state to the whole world.
The state is well known in these two fields.
She further said we should develop our own traditional style of various forms of arts.
Mere imitation from other's cultures will not help.
Our unique traditional art forms are highlighting our identity and culture to the world.
The closing function also featured a play, "Mitamgi Shathek" directed by Y Rajendra and Budha Chongtham is its Script Writer.
The play is a production of the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Manipur and North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur.
