Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh visited Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) campus today to assess the progress of work being implemented by State Government agencies.
The inaugural academic session of JNIMS is scheduled to commence from next week.
The CM's inspection tour covered construction sites of gents' hostel, staff quarters, new OPD block, a 150-bedded ward, temporary administrative block attached to Imphal East DC office and connecting roads.
The CM wound up the visit by presiding a meeting at the JNIMS conference hall attended by Engineers and medical practitioners of the Hospital.
At the meeting O Ibobi assured that there will be no shortage of fund and prevailed upon officials concerned to provide work and other relevant details to the Government so as to ensure sanction without delay.
While confiding that major percentage of the earmarked amount is yet to be utilised, the CM strongly stressed on the need for accelerating the construction works in order to ensure that the allocated fund do not lapse.
Suggesting that engineers and JNIMS administrative officials focus on the ongoing to work for completion within the stipulated period, he also suggested conceded due to problem of transportation constant supply of construction materials could not be sustained.
He, however, maintained that the Government is committed in ensuring availability of construction materials such as steel and sand.
Health Minister Ph Parijat, Works Minister K Ranjit and PDA Chairman Dr Kh Loken also accompanied the CM.
