In view of the depleting stock of essential commodities in the State, Directorate of Transport has urged the vehicle owners to make available of their vehicles for lifting and transportation of essential commodities along NH-39 .
A press release issued by Transport Director BK Sharma said that a round trip of transportation of food grains from FSD depot, Ramnagar to Sangaiprou, Imphal takes more than eight days and the minimum requirement of stock of food grains/petroleum products cannot not be maintained unless induction of essential commodities is made immediately through NH-39 .
In view of this alarming situation, the State Government has decided to requisition of inter-State trucks/tankers/bullets for lifting and transportation of goods/petroleum products from ex-Dimapur/IOC loading points located in Assam for which dedicated security would be provided by CPMF under the close monitoring system being formulated by State DGP, said the press release.
Security would also be provided at the time of loading and unloading as well, it added.
