Police commandos who raided house of Md Sanayai at Lilong Ushoipokpi were charged of taking away of Rs 1,80,000 in cash in the name of checking illicit drugs.
Five police commando personnel of Thoubal police, raided Sanayai's house, mention may be made were assaulted by locals last night, at around 7.30 pm, at Lilong Ushoipokpi near Lilong Haorebi College gate in which two of them sustained injuries.
The five personnel came in a white Gypsy marked CDO Thoubal and without any registration number.
After torturing the family members they decamped with Rs 1,80,000 from the house, family members alleged.
A JAC has been formed in this matter to demand justice for the victims of commandos' atrocities and high-handedness.
Kh Liaquat Ali, Co-convenor of the JAC while interacting with the media at the residence of Md Sanayai, said that after torturing the family members of Md Sanayai and holding them at gun point the commando personnel ransacked his house searching for gold items, money and other valuables.
The people of the locality hearing the commotion at the Md Sanayai's house came to investigate.
Seeing the people coming in the direction of the Md Sanayai's house, the commandos immediately escaped taking with them Rs 1,80,000 from the house.
2 commando personnel were caught while trying to escape while the 3 commandos managed to flee.
They fired around 20 rounds during escape.
The commando personnel injured five persons because of their torture and inhumane atrocities.
The injured persons were Md Shamir alias Shotu, Nazir Ahmad, Abdul Hakim alias Apik, Zamir and Ayub Khan.
A public meeting was held today at the market of Ushoipokpi to deliberate on the incident and the JAC was formed.
The JAC demanded the termination of the accused 5 commando personnel from the service, hand over the money looted by the personnel to its owner on or before 6th August and a compensation of Rs 50,000 each to those injured by the commandos.
