SPICMACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) organized a musical evening at Sainik School Imphal today as part of 'VIRAASAT'
series.
Padmashree Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, creator of the Mohan Veena and winner of Grammy Award enthralled the audience with scintillating rendition on Mohan Veena.
Towards the end, the cadets interacted with Bhatt.
These programmes are organized by the school since it has been made a sub-chapter of SPICMACAY from 2008 with an aim to sensitise the young cadets about rich cultural and musical heritage of India.
Group Capt Surinder Singh, Principal Sainik School Imphal honoured the artists on the occasion and thanked them for reaching out to the school.
Padmashri, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, the creator of 'Mohan Veena' gave a scintillating performance at the Red Shield Auditorium in front of 200 school children, teachers and a group of Army Officers.
Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt has got the prestigious Grammy Award for Music in 1994 and has been conferred with Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 1998 and Padmashri in 2002 .
Panditji accompanied by Pandit Ram Kumar Mishra on tabla kept the audience at Leimakhong spellbound for about two hours.
The Chief Guest on the occasion Deputy General Officer Commanding, Brigadier RS Grewal felicitated the master musician and thanked Dr Ibomcha Singh for organising this mesmerising musical performance on behalf of Manipur Chapter of SPIC MACAY.
