Imphal, November 27 2014:
Asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the head of the alleged colonial regime, the CorCom has not only condemned the upcoming visit of the Prime Minister to Manipur but also announced 'curfew' from 00.00 hour to 24.00 hours of November 30 .
A press release issued by the CorCom publicity committee convenor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit is a bad omen for the people of Manipur.
"..In a world of inter-dependence and globalization, there is no option but to follow international laws and norms...For this reason, following international law and norms is important...", the CorCom quoted Narendra Modi's speech as presented at the 9th East Asia Summit held at Nay Pyi Taw, Myan-mar on November 12-13 .
Then the coordination committee lambasted the Govern- ment of India for imposing draconian laws in Manipur which the international community have recommended for complete abolition.
It is against these laws that Irom Chanu Sharmila has been struggling for the past many years.
Notwithstanding all the pressures given by different nations to repeal AFSPA, the Government of India has been adamantly defending the draconian law.
The controversial phrase 'without territorial limits' inserted in the joint statement issued on June 14, 2001 ignited a mass uprising in Manipur in June 2001 .
While one party claimed that the controversial phrase has been removed, the other party contended that there was no modification.
This ambiguity is confusing the mass apart from creating distrust among different communities of Manipur.
CorCom would fight all challenges to the integrity of Manipur through political as well as military means, it declared.
Media, medical and emergency services would be exempted from the 'curfew', it added.
