Imphal, August 27 2011:
Consensus eluded discussion on reintroduction of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur at a Cabinet meeting today as nothing definite was known among the members present on the enforcement of the system earlier and how it was abolished.
In connection with the Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, a senior Minister of the SPF Government said that since the Inner Line Permit System is said to have been abolished in 1950, no one could deny its enforcement in Manipur.
However, no documents to substantiate whether the abolition had been carried out under an instruction of the Government of India or not could be furnished in the Cabinet meeting today.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has given instruction to all the authorities concerned for collecting necessary documents from the Archives and producing them in the next meeting, the senior Minister disclosed.
Today's meeting also gave approval to recruitment of 315 medical personnel including Dental and AYUSH doctors under State Health Services, the Minister added.
