Kakching/Thoubal, June 10 2026:
Members of the All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM), Kakching District Area Committee staged a protest rally on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Manipur through Kakching Deputy Commissioner Angeline Renita R, pressing for urgent measures to address the ongoing crisis in the State.
AMNM in a release said that the rally witnessed the participation of a large number of women members of the organisation, who expressed concern over the prolonged ethnic violence and the prevailing situation in Manipur.
Speaking during the protest, State secretary Sh Purnimasi Devi, district president S Sorojini Devi and vice-president L Sumatibala Devi voiced strong dissatisfaction over the Government failure to bring about an amicable solution to the conflict that has gripped the State for more than three years.
In a similar move, the All Manipur Nupi Marup, Thoubal District Area-Committee also submitted a memorandum to the Governor through Thoubal Deputy Commissioner Yumnam Robita, raising a series of demands aimed at restoring peace, stability and public confidence.
Among the key demands placed before the Governor were immediate measures to stop all acts of terrorism and violence in Manipur and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
The organisations also called for the conduct of Census operations only after the identification and verification of illegal immigrants in the State.
The memoranda further urged the Government to take concrete steps to regain the trust and confidence of the people, failing which those responsible should step down from their positions.
The women's bodies also demanded the conduct of long-pending local body elections, the rehabilitation and resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs), and immediate intervention to resolve what they termed the "Naga hostage crisis".
Additionally, the organisations sought justice for the victims of the Tronglaobi incident and urged the Government of India to refrain from pursuing any policy perceived as undermining the territorial integrity of Manipur.
