Imphal, August 27 2011:
The employees of five Engineering Departments of the state who are currently under work charge, muster roll and casual are all set to go in for various kinds of protest in case they are not regularized at the earliest possible time.
Speaking at a press conference held at the office of the Manipur Electricity Employees Union at Paona International market, President of the All Manipur Engineering Department's Union's Council, Y Ranapratap said that all the non-regular employees of the five Engineering Departments, namely, Electricity Dept, Public Works Dept, Public Health engineering Dept, Irrigation and Flood Control Dept and Minor Irrigation Dept are a part of the 60 assembly constituency of the state.
But unfortunately none of the MLAs have ever mentioned a word about the problems faced by these employees in the Assembly session.
Almost all the Chief Engineers of these five Departments are fully aware of the problems face by their employees.
But no welfare programmes has so far been taken up in their favour.
A memorandum has been submitted to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister alleging that all their Social and Natural justice has been denied.
But no positive response from the concern's side has been received till date, he said.
He further said that the Council has met even the National President of the Indian National Trade Union Congress, Dr G Sanjeeva Reddy and General Secretary of AIC, Ramchandra Khuntiya and have poured down their grievances to them.
Altogether there are 4937 non-regular employees in the state at present.
