Imphal, June 10 2026:
Asking for unity and solidarity among the Nagas, the Joint Tribes' Council Manipur has issued a clarification regarding the release of the 14 Kuki individuals.
"The JTC Manipur has heard your anger.
We have felt your grief.
We do not ask you to forget the blood of our six murdered brethren.
We do not ask you to forgive the betrayal that has turned our trust into ash.
But we now ask you to understand..." it said in a statement.
The decision to facilitate the release of the 14 Kuki detainees was not taken lightly.
It was not taken from weakness or fear.
It was taken with the full collective voice of "our communities" through the 20 tribal Naga hohos under UNC, deliberated, debated, and finally agreed upon for one reason only, "the welfare of our own Naga people," it said.
"We do not ask for blind obedience...Stand with our leaders not because every decision is perfect, but because our unity is the only fire that has kept us alive through generations of war.
Question us.
Hold us accountable.
But do not shatter our sacrifice while the enemy still sharpens their knives outside our door," it said.
The JTC-Manipur will never stop demanding justice for "our six innocent civilians, two Pastors, a father, grandson, beloved brother and sons of this land who were murdered" .
"We will never stop demanding arrests, convictions, and the stripping of every killer's badge and chair.
But we will also never stop choosing the path that protects the maximum number of Naga lives even when that path tastes like ash," it added.
"We do not ask for your silence.
We ask for your solidarity.
Stand with us to resolve.
Help us guard every Naga life, even as we refuse to let a single one be forgotten.
Let your compassion be the ground where justice grows and where unbreakable unity takes root," said the JTC .
