School, truck set ablaze

In unrelated incidents, a Govt UJB school in Kangchup Chiru has been set on fire and a mini truck torched at Senapati district.
The UJB School set on fire at around 8 pm yesterday has been devastated beyond redemption.
Kangchup Chiru village lies close to Imphal West district's Phayeng village.
On the otherhand, the goods-laden mini truck torched at Senapati district headquarters at around 10.30 pm bears registration number MN01W/9550 and was reportedly coming from Mao side.
It may be mentioned that in connection with the demand for upgrading Sadar Hills to a full-fledged revenue district, the Sadar Hills districthood Demand Committee is enforcing an indefinite general strike/economic in Sadar hills areas with the United Naga Council also observing total bandh in the entire Naga inhabited areas against the demand of the former.
Meanwhile, Kangchup Village Authority, Senapati district described the burning of the UJB School as an unfortunate incident and appealed to all concerned to ensure that such incident do not recur.
It further appealed to the Government to immediately repair the only Government educational institution of the area.
