Thoubal, June 10 2026:
Students of Khangabok Higher Secondary School staged a sit-in protest demonstration in front of the school gate on Wednesday under the initiative of the Manipur Students' Federation (MSF), demanding peace in the State and the restoration of a conducive environment for education.
The protest was organised against the prolonged unrest in Manipur, with the students expressing concern over the continuing violence and its adverse impact on the lives and education of young people.
Carrying placards bearing messages such as "Let Us Live in Freedom", "Stop Waging Proxy War and Killing of Innocent Civilians and Children", "We Want Peace and Tranquility", "We Oppose the Actions Carried Out by the Security Forces in Ukhrul", and "Let Us Pursue Our Education Properly", the students voiced their desire for a peaceful atmosphere that would allow them to continue their studies without disruption.
The student body stated that similar protest would be conducted in educational institutions across Manipur in the coming days.
MSF maintained that, given the current situation, it is imperative for students and youths to collectively raise their voices for peace and contribute towards safeguarding the interests of the State and its people.
