LNC (M), RNC (M) to boycott UNC conference 36 hrs bandh from Oct 18 sounded

The Liangmai Naga Council ( Manipur ) and Rongmei Naga Council (Manipur) while directing Liangmai and Rongmei people not to attend the United Naga Council ( UNC ) sponsored “First Conference of the Naga Village Authority of Southern Nagalim,” have announced a total bandh for 36 hours from 6 am of October 18 to 12 noon of October 19 in all Liangmai and Rongmei inhabited areas”.
In a joint statement made available to Newmai News Network this evening by Thuankubui Pamei, president, Rongmei Naga Council (M) and R Machundoubou, president, Liangmai Naga Council (M), the two apex bodies said that “the Liangmai Naga Council ( LNC-M ) and Rongmei Naga Council, Manipur (RNC-M) had been requesting that affiliation be granted to them in the United Naga Council (UNC) for the last three/four years but our humble request was turned down, and as such, we have boycotting the activities of the UNC for the past two/three years now”.
As such, both the bodies have directed the Liangmai and Rongmei people not to attend the the “First Conference of the Naga Village Authority of Southern Nagalim” organized by the UNC on October 19 at Yaikongpao village local ground, Senapati.
“All the chairmen of Liangmai and Rongmei villages are directed not to attend the said conference.
Anyone violating it shall be seriously viewed by the respective councils,” the Liangmai and Rongmei bodies warned.
However, both the LNC and RNC said that the people of Liangmai and Rongmei have been participating and supporting the Naga National Movement for self determination since its inception and will continue to involve and support till an amicable solution is brought about.
“We have happily welcomed and accepted the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and GPRN/NSCN (IM) on the 3rd of August, 2015,” they added.
