Women MLAs felicitated in absentia

The three women MLAs of the 10th Legislative Assembly failed to turn up for a felicitation function organised in their honour today at Hotel Imphal due to reason best known to them leaving the gatherings dejected.
The felicitation function organised by the Women in Governance (WING), Manipur comprising representatives from eight districts of the State had to proceed with unintended manner as none of the women legislatures including one Minister did not turn up.
The 10th Legislative Assembly had returned three women including Okram Lamdhoni from Khangabok, AK Mirabai from Patsoi, who is also allotted the Social Welfare minister and Nemcha Kipgen from Kangpokpi AC.
Convenor of WING, Manipur Nonibala Narengban said the returned of a record breaking three women MLAs in the 10th Manipur Legilative Assembly was reckoned with great hope and expectation by women from the State.
She said to show women's appreciativeness over the returned of three legislatures in the Assembly the felicitation programme has been organised while conveying her downheartedness due to the absence of the three MLAs.
Meanwhile, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai informed The Sangai Express that she could not attend the function due to communication gap with the organiser while conveying her regret for not attending the function.
"My absence doesn't mean that I am settled as a minister.
Even though I could not make it in today's function, I would consistently work with women for their welfare," Minister AK Mirabai told TSE.
Convenor of Manipur Alliance for CHild Rights, Keisam Pradipkumar; News editor of ISTV, Y Rupachandra; and member of Kuki Inpi, Helam Haokip turned up as the presidium members while women delagates from various districts of the State gathered to attend the function.
Speakers of the function highlighted the achievement of Manipur women in every field while expressing optimism that the return of three legislatures in the Assembly would do much for the betterment and welfare of children and women.
Nonibala said a draft memorandum consisting 21 charter of demands would however be submitted to the women MLAs even if they failed to turn up today.
