Imphal, May 08 2012:
Repairing work of the road stretch from Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai Chingjin to RIMS' Morgue road would begin from tomorrow, according to Thangmeiband ACs MLA Kh Joykishan.
Talking to reporters today, Joykishan said that Works Minister, Kh Ratan had assured him that the repairing of the road stretch would begin from tomorrow.
Though the Minister was not available in person as he went to Jiribam yesterday, he confirmed this over phone, the MLA said adding that the matter was highlighted to him on earlier occasions.
The MLA however clarified that the construction work of the road is not initiated as a result of the agitation launched yesterday under the aegis of the Lamphel-Thangmeiband JAC.
He said he was concerned with the roads and water supply conditions of his constituency even before becoming an MLA.

Joykishan further said that he had contrived to repair the roads before the JAC submitted a memorandum to him adding that the construction of the road would not be taken with a specific fund but other available funds from the Government in the interest of the people.
It is also pertinent to mention that several organisations under the aegis of Lamphel-Thangmeiband JAC had staged protest in the form of roadblock, rally and sit-in to protest the dilapidated road of Thangmeiband and Lamphel area.
The JAC has also served an ultimatum to the concerned MLAs and department that it would resort to more violent form of protest in case the demand is not met within seven days.
