YFPHR hails judgment

Youth's Forum for Protection of Human Rights (YFPHR) has welcomed and appreciated the judgment passed made by Session Judge Imphal West, Maibam Manojkumar Singh and the fair investigation conducted by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the death of Irom Roger in 2012 by the son of former Minister Nongthombam Biren.
According to a press release of (YFPHR), the investigation process took more than four years, but the conviction made by the Court proves that there is rule of law in the land which all the citizens of Manipur and India should not forget and act accordingly.
It drew the attention of the investigating agencies and the Court to relook and reconsider the pending cases of Thangjam Manorama (2004), Chungkham Sanjit (2009), Rabina (2009) and Md Azad Khan (2009) who were allegedly killed by the Indian armed forces under AFSPA, 1958 wherein the killers were identified.
It also cited the rape and murder of Samjetsabam Thambaltombi, 11 years old (2009), Laishram Surmila, 10 years old (2014), Baby Simran, 7 years old (2014), K Shanti, 40 years old (2015), Ningthoujam Rebicca, 25 years old (2015) etc where the perpetrators are not booked and arrested till date.
In all the cases, the victim families are yet to receive justice.
YFPHR requested all the agencies to conduct a fair investigation and the Court to deliver justice.
