2 CRPF men hurt in blast

Imphal, January 07 2017:
At least two CRPF personnel of 143 Bn were injured in a powerful bomb blast believed to be IED triggered by suspected underground cadres, few meters away from Imphel West DC office under Lamphel police station today at around 6.30 pm.
According to information culled from the spot, the two CRPF personnel were coming on bicycles after completing their normal patrolling duty when the blast went off on the road side culvert along Naoremthong Leirembi Leirak near Mohan Motor workshop.
The injured personnel have been identified as Rifleman Brajesh Singh, 29 and Rifleman Visvender Jat, 24.Brajesh Singh received splinter injury on his left hand while Brajesh suffered injuries on his head.
The duo was rushed to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital for treatment.
One of the injured personnel was shifted to Shija Hospital after his condition deteriorated.
The bicycles driven by the two CRPF personnel were also damaged in the explosion.
Soon after the blast, a team of Imphal West district police headed by Additional SP (Operation) S Ibomcha arrived and inspected the blast site.
Lamphel police have registered a case in connection with the incident.
